While Ben and Lauren were giving Eli his evening bath and putting him to bed, Josh and I were sitting (on the most comfortable couch, ever) in their living room listening to the giggles, singing, and laughter happening upstairs. Bath time wasn’t just for washing. It was for silly songs and hilarious exclamations. Bed time wasn’t just for lying down in the crib. It was for bedtime stories, tickles, more songs, more laughter, and, I can safely assume, lots of hugs and kisses.
Despite only meeting us one time before, Eli saw that his mom and dad welcomed us into their home and warmed right up. He is still too young to yet speak fluent English, but boy does he speak fluently! He is a little orator and has much to say, complete with compelling arm gestures and head nods. He makes sure to have your attention and then talks your ear off! I told Lauren I’m convinced he is going to skip the developmental stage of speaking in one word sentences and go straight to, “Hi mom, I want juice, please!”
I had a lot of fun taking some lifestyle Christmas photos for them! We took some evening shots around the glowing Christmas tree and then a few more in the morning (when Eli wasn’t quite so sleepy). We should’ve saved Curious George for the very end, because once he had it in his hands, he wouldn’t let go. However we still got plenty of cute photos that show the spirit of this adorable family.
We love spending time with you, Ben and Lauren! Every time we’re with you, we have so. much. fun! You are both full of joy and we love the deep conversations and laughs. 5 years of long-distance friendship isn’t ideal, and we wish we could see you more than once or twice a year. But at the same time, we’re so thankful we do have a long-distance friendship and that we make it work! And we love that Eli is a part of that friendship! Love you guys!
