Leela! This girl is a firecracker. She’s full of spunk, full of personality, and has an endearing smile. It was an absolute honor to meet her and her family during her senior portrait. Leela’s story is one of struggle and triumph. Pain and healing. Loss and recovery.
Leela’s family shared with me that she suffered a stroke in 2016 that affected every aspect of Leela’s life. Since then, she has fought and her family has fought for every step of her recovery. In our time together, it was evident how much the family had endured but also how much strength and unity they have.
We started the session on a gorgeously sunny, but slightly chilly, afternoon. It was evident how excited Leela was for her photo session. She had an entourage, too! Mom, stepdad, sister, and a close friend, all there to support her. After a few shots, I showed some of the first images to Leela and she literally squealed in delight. As the session continued, Leela started to share with me some of her dreams for the future, including modeling. I always provide coaching for posing at every session, and Leela took to it better than most! Once she knew what I expected, she started adding her own Leela-flair to the poses, which I loved. She was comfortable and eager to be in front of the camera, which made the session so fun for both of us. She also allowed me to push her to walk further than she had in a while and refused to accept much assistance as we moved around the very large Broadmoor grounds.
Leela, I was inspired by you and by your family. I am impressed with your passion and ferocity. You are strong. You are a beautiful. You are a fighter. You are an overcomer. I am a better person for having met you. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to take your senior portraits!
