Jessica and her babies are just beautiful. Promise is evidently such a sweet big sister and happily helps keep an eye on the wild and adventurous 2-year-old that is her little brother, Brave. Her connection with her mom is also undeniable. These three are close and all have a strong bond and love for one another. Plus, I loved having the opportunity to capture a few head shots for Jessica to help her as she continues to grow her own business as a hair and makeup artist!

I love opportunities to capture families and kids and the bonds they have with one another. Photos sessions are almost always unpredictable and always interesting when you attempt to get toddlers to follow any sort of direction. I’ve mostly learned to just go with the flow. Kids love their mamas. And mamas love their kids. In order to capture the love, it’s just a matter of me being present for the moments when the love is expressed, because those moments always happen.

I’ve said before in other posts, and I’ll say again, a photo session does not need to go perfectly.

Don’t expect perfection (behavior, outfits, smiling on cue, etc). It’s simply not necessary.

The best advice I can give you is to prepare, prepare, prepare ahead of time…and then let go of your expectations and just enjoy the moment with your kids and family! I’ll do the hard work during the session. Jessica was great at this. She prepped herself and her kids in beautiful and adorable outfits, had a reward ready for each kid when we done, and then just let the kids be themselves while I directed and captured photos. It was a wonderful Mommy & Me session!

Jessica, you are fierce and I can easily see what a wonderful mother you are to these two beautiful souls. They are blessed to be yours. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to capture some beautiful memories for you and I hope you treasure them always!
