“This is the best wedding ever!”
“I love this wedding!”
“This day is so perfect!”
“I love this day.”
These were just some of the exclamations Cat made throughout her wedding day. And what a beautiful, perfect day it was!
Before the first look, Josh was standing on the stairs around the corner from where Cat was finishing up her bridal portraits with the talented photographer and Maid of Honor, Katie Hollifield*. At one point, I looked up at Josh on the stairs and saw he had his eyes closed. Thinking he was concerned about accidentally getting a glimpse of Cat, I assured him that she was well around the corner and out of his sightline. He responded, with deep calming breaths and eyes still closed, that he was actually collecting himself in anticipation of seeing her.
When it was finally time for the first look, it was a soft, quiet moment. It felt like an exhale. The wedding day had arrived. All of their venue and wedding dress mishaps had been resolved and ended up perfectly. They were surrounded by the people who cared about them most. They were ready to say their vows and promises to love and support one another forever.
It was a moment of peace and their joy was so evident.
The rest of the day was a continued expression of that joy as they said their personal vows, hugged family, toasted with dear friends, took pictures together and danced the night away.
Cat and Josh, you are two of the most thoughtful, genuine, and kind people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you for trusting and allowing me to capture your beautiful day. It was an absolute joy and honor to work with you. Thank you for being so thoughtful that you took a moment to check if I had gotten a break or eaten. Thank you for taking a moment to thank me in the middle of your sunset portraits. I know your guests were thankful for the kids coloring books, kiddie buffet, flip flops for dancing, gif photo booth (so fun!!) and delicious meal. I was continually amazed throughout the day and humbled by your conscientiousness of the needs and feelings of others, even in the midst of a day focused on you! Those are such strengths and testaments of your character. I know they will serve you well in your marriage and I wish nothing less than a lifetime full of love and happiness for you!
*See all of the wonderful vendors listed at the end of the post.
Katie’s shoes here really represent Cat’s thoughtfulness and kindness. Cat noticed, back in high school, that Katie’s shoes were worn through and bought her new ones early in their friendship. Katie hid the fact that she was wearing those very same Chuck Taylor’s from Cat until this speech and it was a really sweet moment when she revealed them!
