Ashley & Chris’s Wedding at The Craftwood Inn

“OH MY GOD! You look SO good!!”

Ashley’s excited exclamations and Chris’s smiling face were just perfect! Their ‘first look’ moment at The Craftwood Inn in Manitou Springs was, in my personal opinion, the highlight of the wedding day! It was the one thing, back at our consultation meeting over a year ago, that Chris said he definitely wanted to be included in the day. It was truly a special moment for the two of them.

‘First looks’ create a private moment for the couple on their wedding day to express themselves freely. No guests or family are present, relieving the social pressure of specific emotional responses (i.e. crying). It’s also one of the few moments a couple gets to be alone during their wedding day. Time slows and for a few minutes, Ashley and Chris just enjoyed each other and were able to take in the moment. After all, the wedding day is truly about the couple committing to one another in marriage, and a first look provides space for the couple to bring the focus back to that important fact.

In addition to a moment of privacy, the photos created during a first look are priceless. You can see Ashley & Chris’s first look photos below, taken at the unique wooden door. There was a range of reaction and then they had their stunning bride and groom session. These two are photogenic from every angle!

The Craftwood Inn

The details of Ashley & Chris’s wedding day were meticulously planned and flawlessly executed. The staff of The Craftwood Inn really know how to keep things running smoothly and on time. They provided well-groomed gardens which became the backdrop for Ashley and Chris’s gorgeous photos and intimate wedding ceremony. The food was delicious and makes an impressive presentation. As Ashley was filling her plate, she said, “I am so glad we ordered these! This looks delicious!” She was absolutely right (and I agree with her that she made excellent menu decisions!). The venue even provided the florals – Ashley particularly loved the peonies in her bouquet (make sure to admire the lovely flowers as you scroll).  Guests also enjoyed and appreciated Ashley’s extra details with her donut wall, selfie station, and coffee bar.

Congratulations, Ashley and Chris, on tying the knot and thank you for trusting me to capture your special day and your lovely engagement photos! I wish you a long, healthy, and joyous marriage!
