Though 7 billion people live on this planet, it amazes me how often we can find complete strangers to whom we share connections. That is the story of Brittany and her family portrait session and pregnancy announcement at Fox Run Park.
To start, I connected with Brittany because she used to room with my friend Riannon back when they both attended college in Chicago. Fast forward several years, Riannon and I moved to Colorado (from the Chicagoland area) in 2012. Riannon and her family were some of the first people to believe in me as a photographer and hire me for their family’s photos. I mean, this was at the beginning when I didn’t know what I was doing and didn’t have any official pricing. I just waited for clients to make a donation after a session… or not.
Additionally, though Brittany and Martin moved to Denver last fall, they had lived in San Francisco for many, many years. It just so happened that I was flying to San Francisco a few days after their family portrait session, so they shared plenty of tips with me about the best ways to enjoy the city!
Lastly, I asked Brittany and Martin to come to Fox Run Park for their family portrait session because it matched the aesthetic they envisioned for their photos. When we arrived, Martin realized it was a park he used to visit as a teenager when he lived in nearby Palmer Lake.
Life is just funny and connected like that. If I stop and think about all the things that had to happen for this photo session to come together at the moment it did, my brain breaks a little bit.
Brittany & Martin had something to share with the world. They are expecting to add baby #2 and family member #5 in just a few months! They already have the sweetest son. He will be the perfect big brother to his baby sister. Just look at those snuggles!
One of the greatest privileges of photography is being present for authentically precious moments. I witnessed three of these moments during the family portrait session.
What a sweet family! It was a privilege to capture their connection, love, and happy anticipation for their growing family.
Thank you, Brittany and Martin, for allowing me to capture some sweet moments of your growing family. I hope you are enjoying life in Colorado and experience plenty of joy and love with your new daughter!
