Do you lovingly refer to your dog as your fur baby? Has Tucker the Golden Retriever been with you for 10 years and is he the goodest boy in the whole world? Then I’m sure you want to bring your dog to your photo session!
I know how important your dog is to you. They’re a cherished member of your family and bring so much joy and love into your life! That’s why it’s only natural that you want to bring your dog to your photo session with Rachel Rumple Photography. Whether it’s for engagement photos, family portraits, or just some fun shots with your furry friend, having your dog in your photos can add a special touch.
Of course, bringing your dog(s) to a photo session can also be challenging. Here are some tips to help you and your dog have a successful, stress-free photo session:
This is my #1 tip! If you do nothing else, do this!
This person can help with getting your dog’s attention and keeping them engaged during the shoot. They can also hold the leash and keep your dog relaxed while we get some photos with just the humans. Having a trusted person who can help keep your dog safe and happy on and off camera will help the session be more stress-free for everyone.
This can be a great way to get your dog’s attention and looking towards the camera. You know your dog best, so bring their favorite treats or toy to keep them interested and engaged. It’s also a great way to reward them for being the very best puppers.
Photographing dogs can be unpredictable, so it’s important to have patience during the session. Between the new smells, other dogs or people, and the excitement of being out, even the best behaved doggos are usually interested in everything but me and my camera. And that’s okay!
I will work patiently with you to get the best shots possible (and a few outtakes, or sweet moments). We will take breaks as needed, and won’t force your dog to do anything they’re uncomfortable with.
Be sure to inform me during the planning phase of your session that you intend to bring your dog(s)! I will make sure to plan for a location that accommodates dogs and has less traffic.
Unless we are specifically in an off-leash area or at your residence, I will require that your dog remains on leash per the laws of our city. By nature of looking at a camera, you will have to take your eyes off your dog during our session and it’s imperative they are safely leashed. This is for everyone’s well-being. In return, I promise to do my best to capture photos where the leash is not visible.
(Some of the dogs in the photos on this page are very obviously on leashes while others are on a leash and you’d never be able to tell!)
At the end of the day, you deserve special memories with your four-legged family members, too, and you’re welcome to bring your dog to your photo session with Rachel Rumple Photography.
