“I’m trying to think of a polite way to ask if Mariah, her friend and I could stay with you for a few days, with the two of them separately having you do their senior pictures while we are there.”
This is a message I got from Lynnay back in mid-July. It wasn’t impolite because she happens to be Josh’s cousin! A quick Rumple history – Josh’s dad has 5 older siblings, which means there are lots of Rumple grandchildren (I believe 16?). Lynnay is in the older half of the grandchildren while Josh is the second youngest. It was fun during Lynnay’s visit to listen to her and Josh’s recollections of past Christmas’s because their perspectives were so different and yet complemented each other well. It was also fun to connect the dots for Mariah to understand how she was related to Josh, and (kind of) to me. Mariah is Lynnay’s daughter and therefore my cousin-once removed-in-law… Did you follow that? 😆
I was beyond honored that they traveled all the way from Minnesota to Colorado Springs for senior photos. Mariah also got to bring one of her best friends Emily, to really enjoy a “senior trip” in celebration of their last year of high school. Mariah and Emily are both really kind, fun girls. We had a great time watching ridiculous movies, playing games, and sight-seeing around the city.
Lynnay and I also realized that I now in live the city where she was born, and she lives (very near) the city I was born! Neither of us remembers our cities of birth since our parents moved when we were extremely young, so it was extra special for Lynnay to visit Colorado Springs.
Mariah and Emily, thanks for trusting me to take your senior photos and for being such great guests. We loved having you visit our town and our home. I wish you both a successful, wonderful (and speedy) senior year. Best of luck as you both begin pursuing your dreams!
