My in-laws visited this month! All of them!
Josh’s parents, his sister, her husband, and our niece and nephew came for a 5-day visit and we crammed into our little townhouse. “That’s a lot of people in a little space,” said some people. “Well, yes, that’s true, but you don’t know how the Rumples operate,” I would respond. You see, since I first met this family 9 years ago, I’ve learned that they prefer family over just about anything and the rest of the details will be what they will be. “Everything will work out and be just fine because we are together.” That’s the attitude and that’s what happened.
We were 6 adults and 2 kids crammed into 1200 sq. ft. of quality time together. There was game playing. There was talking and laughing. Park going. Escape rooming. Balloon watching. Garden of the Gods seeing. Mountain viewing. Goodness.
Plus, aren’t many of us a little spoiled with our sprawling thousands-of-square-foot houses anyways? It’s good to be up in each other’s space a little. And it was good to have my home full. I have two guest bedrooms. And why? Not because I use them. I don’t even let the cat go in them. They’re for people. And people filled them for a long weekend and my heart was happy. 🙂
On another note, if you’re unfamiliar with the term “snowbirds” it’s when retired people escape snowy places (like Ohio) and flee to warmer places (generally Florida) for the winter months. I don’t know what you’d call them, but my parents-in-law talked about instead escaping the humid summers in their retirement to summer in Colorado. “Summerbirds?” “Humidbirds?” “ready-to-have-Colorado-adventure-birds?” Anyways, I think that would be an awesome idea and we’d love to have them around more often! Plus they’d fit right in with all the other RVs that pop up around here summer long in the west.
Also, the other day Kelly texted me to share that Gabe told her he wanted to move to Colorado to spend more time with us and to be a photographer with me. I melted 😭❤️
Thank you, Rumples, for making the journey to visit us! We love you!
